This post is about my pigtails
My family is the best and no one will ever convince me otherwise.
ALSO, OH SHIT I HAVE A WEBSITE.
Well I've had it for a while but never bothered putting up any kind of navigation, haha. Pages were linked from were they were relevant to, but I guess... it's good to have a homepage sort of thing?
I will probably make a page for my art/writing, but that will have to wait until I can draw/write something that is worth anything, sob.
I find it kind of pathetic that 100% of things hosted on the site are related to Neurogalaxy. Speaking of NG!
A goofy little thing drawn on the Oekaki in response to someone submitting troll posts to complain about the lack of moderation. One of their main points, sandwiched between BAWWW MODS ARE LAZY and EVERYONE ELSE IS SO IMMATURE AND DUMB was that too many people were submitting little noncommital scribbles.
FEEL THE STING OF MY BRUSHSTROKES, YOU FOOLISH MORTAL.
(I have drawn way too much today but have finished almost nothing hnnghhh)

A drug that herps you derp
Not doing much around here. Cleaning my room up a bit, I've been stretching this task over several days because my room is a disaster area. There's boxes of clothes, hats, trash and paper everywhere... I really need to take better care of it. It's better now than it's been in a long time, but it's still not good enough.
I have been playing Yume Miru Kusuri in my spare time, though.

I have been playing Yume Miru Kusuri in my spare time, though.

I followed the Aeka path because I felt like I'd be able to relate/sympathize with her the most. It... wasn't what I expected. I had seen CGs from the game online, specifically of Aeka and Kouhei strangling that ginger girl- Nanjou? That's honestly what sparked my interest in the game in the first place.
Aeka's situation was so ridiculous that I found it extremely hard to sympathize with her at all. Nanjou's boyfriend flirted with her, and Nanjou decided to devote the next several years to making the girl's life a hell. But... everyone, including Nanjou, KNEW that the boy had not only hit on other girls but had sex with them.
Why the hell did Nanjou target Aeka? There are plenty of girls who did much more than just accept his affections. I suppose we can proceed with the idea that Aeka was the first, and/or also the closest of these girls.
The concept of a "Queen Bee" in anything annoys me a lot. Those don't... exist. I have been in both extremely large and extremely small highschools. Only in the small one did something like a queen bee exist, and even then it was just a very shallow and manipulative girl. She fucked around with some of my friends, then we cut ties with her. She tried slandering us, but that didn't work because this is real life. In the end she just went to fuck around with the Sophmores instead.
That's the closest thing a person will realistically come to imitating this trope. Knowing that and experiencing it, I couldn't believe Nanjou's character at all.
That is the problem with things set locally, I guess. Making a character in highschool can make them more relatable, but putting them in an acutely specific situation will isolate people whose experiences differ. I couldn't get into Aeka's story because my own experiences with bullying are so vastly different from hers that it simply didn't seem believable to me.
A much broader example is The Big Bang Theory. It gets a lot of shit from the "nerd" community. The writers have created a cast of gamers and comic book fans with very sparse knowledge of how they actually act. While people who have no experience with this don't see a problem, those who are actually gamers and comic book fans find it incredibly grating.

Rice and lemons and rice and lemons
Well, here we go. I had puzzled on and off for some time as to what to use this for, and finally arrived on "whatever the hell I feel like, goddamnit". That is very flimsy, yes, so I think I'll use this time to talk about what I did on a bored midnight a few days ago.
I had been casually discussing cute-bento with a friend. It's something that interests me, though I had resigned myself a long time ago to the fact that I'd never be able to make them. When I was younger I was fully embroiled in Japanese fanatacism and attempted to learn the craft of making adorable faces in my lunch. I even important a cute little Totoro bento box for it.
Of course, I quickly realized something important. I could not cook, at all. I was also not even remotely creative when it came to food, and the cute box was simply delegated to the role of regular lunchbox until I finally became too embarrassed to use it.
Recently, however, I have learned how to cook several different dishes. I thought, in a fit of boredom, that I knew enough now to make a real bento lunch. Well. I can make rice and eggs, I figured that was all I needed to know.
This is the box in question. I have long since lost both the straps and the chopsticks, and Totoro's face is faded a lot, but it still works. Let's open her up, shall we?
The top part was pretty simple. Gingersnaps- leftover from a pie crust I made- and some fruit I hastily tossed in there. YEAH, SURE, OKAY.

Aaaand the bottom layer. Which was more problematic than I thought it would be. Initially, I had planned on making fried eggs for the eyes and cover it with little hearts cut out of some pork. But while assembling it, I realized that I SEVERELY overestimated the size of my box.
I had to recut the eyes several times before they actually fit, and at the end I had an entire bento box plus two fried eggs and a bunch of pork at midnight. My haste in making the top layer was mostly because I didn't want the eggs to get cold.
In the end, I ate it all. Fried eggs with rice isn't so bad. Also, I suck at making bento. I should just stick to American pastries, haha. Speaking of...
Lemon Meringue with a Gingersnap crust! I would not recommend this. This was my first time making a gingersnap crust and it didn't hold up very well, the whole thing was a crumbly mess that didn't keep any of the spiced flavor. The pie itself was pretty good, if very sloppy.
Yes, I am the best photographer. "HOW CAN I COMPENSATE FOR HAVING A CRAPPY CAMERA? OH I KNOW, DROP A LEMON ON THERE, THAT'LL MAKE IT LOOK DELICIOUS."
